With so many bike shops in Jacksonville, it can be tough to know which ones are worth your time. Some focus solely on sales, while others specialize in repairs and maintenance.
That’s why I put this guide together—to help you find reliable shops that offer quality bikes and service, and a team that genuinely supports your cycling needs.
1. Open Road Bicycles

Open Road Bicycles was one of the first shops I came across. What immediately stood out was its long history and veteran-owned background.
With 48 years of military service behind it and over three decades of service, there’s a strong sense of experience here.
They also carry a wide selection: road bikes, mountain bikes, and electric bikes. Open Road even offers family options for both adults and kids. You’ll also find plenty of parts and accessories, which makes it a convenient one-stop shop.
What I like is the added value when you buy a bike. You get 10% off parts and accessories on the same day. Plus, you get free professional bike fitting for road bikes and 90 days of free maintenance.
Plus, prices start at around $500 for smaller bikes, which feels a bit on the higher side, especially for beginners. It tends to be more expensive compared to other local shops.

Bicycles Etc. caught my attention because of just how much they offer under one roof. They’ve been around since 1994 and have built a solid reputation ever since.
The company is a major dealer for brands like Trek, Cannondale, and Electra, among others. And from what I’ve seen, they stock more bikes than most shops even purchase in a year. It means you’ve got plenty of options to choose from.
I also really like their lifetime basic service package. When you buy a bike from them, they’ll handle basic adjustments for free. This is a huge bonus for everyone.
Bicycles Etc. also offers demo bike rentals and even has a “Trade-Up” program for kids. With this, you can get up to 50% of your money back when you upgrade.
On the other hand, when you’re on a tight budget, they sell used but excellent working bikes.
But I did notice that repairs can take a while. Some customers also mentioned waiting a couple of days, even for simple fixes.

3. ZenCog Bicycle

ZenCog Bicycle stood out to me because it feels more community-driven than bigger retailers. They have been around since 2009, so that’s about 17 years of experience.
Their pricing is one of the more affordable ones I’ve seen. They have bikes starting at $200 for smaller sizes, which is a lot cheaper compared to others.
They also offer repair and maintenance services at about $65 per hour. This feels reasonable considering the team has over 50 years of combined experience.
If you need extras, they also do bike assembly for $50 and car rack installation at similar rates. These prices are pretty standard, in my opinion.
I also like that ZenCog carries used and even vintage bikes. Plus, they offer consignment options if you’re looking to sell your own.
One thing to be aware of is their policy on unclaimed bikes. They can’t store serviced bikes long-term, so anything left behind may be sold or donated after a certain time.

Trek Bicycle is one of those places that feels very polished and tech-forward. Choose them if you like having everything connected to your riding experience.
They have a Ride Club application. It lets you track your rides, explore local routes, and even join challenges. It’s a nice bonus if you’re trying to stay motivated or improve your performance.
Aside from bikes, they also sell apparel, helmets, and other gear. So it’s easy to get everything you need in one place.
I also like the Red Barn Refresh program for used bikes. These go through a detailed 151-point inspection and are serviced by Trek technicians. Plus, they include a lifetime warranty and a 30-day return policy.
Unfortunately, I did come across some concerns about refunds. There were a few clients saying they didn’t receive the full amount back.

5. Champion Cycling

Champion Cycling is a long-standing local shop that caters to just about everyone. They have been around since 1979, so they bring over 40 years of experience to the table.
What I like is how inclusive they are. Whether you’re a serious road cyclist or just someone looking for a casual ride, they always have something for you.
Their bikes start at around $125, which is definitely one of the more affordable options in the area. They also offer bike fitting, rentals, and repair services.
Champion Cycling also offers a wide range of accessories like helmets, wheels, and car racks. This makes them an all-around bike service.
Another nice touch is their community aspect. They host local rides and even have a bike club you can join anytime. More than a retail shop, they help shape the local bike community.
The only thing I noticed is that there’s no clear mention of car rack installation services. It’s something clients might be looking for, especially when planning for long rides.
