5 Best Preschools in Jacksonville for a Strong Start to Your Child’s Education

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Learning Programs: Early education matters, so I looked for preschools that offer well-structured programs focusing on social development, creativity, and early academic skills.

Teacher Qualifications: I prioritized schools with experienced teachers and staff trained in early childhood education.

Facilities and Safety: I chose schools with secure campuses, well-maintained classrooms, and stimulating play areas that stood out.

Parent Feedback: I considered reviews and testimonials from families, especially comments about communication, care, and overall satisfaction with the program.

Finding the right preschool for your child can feel like a huge decision. With so many options, it’s not always easy to choose which schools provide the best balance of learning and a nurturing environment.

Many parents spend hours researching programs, visiting campuses, and comparing teaching philosophies just to find a place where their child can truly thrive.

To make things easier, I looked into the most trusted preschools in Jacksonville. I evaluated institutions known for strong early childhood programs and supportive tutors.

These are the preschools that I believe offer the best start for young learners while giving parents peace of mind.

How much does preschool tuition cost in Jacksonville?

In Jacksonville, preschool tuition typically costs from $700 to $1,200 per month, depending on the school’s curriculum, schedule, and facilities. Some charge registration fees or activity fees, so it’s a good idea to ask for a full breakdown of costs when comparing programs.

One of the first things that stood out to us about Deerwood Academy is how well-rounded their early education program is.

The staff is highly qualified, and the curriculum blends strong academics with character development. This helps kids build both learning skills and positive values early on.

The school also emphasizes learning through the nationally accredited A Beka phonics program. Many families appreciate helping children develop strong early reading skills.

Their reputation is further supported by being accredited by the National Accreditation Commission and recognized with the Gold Seal Quality Care designation from the Florida Department of Children and Families.

On top of that, Deerwood Academy provides a full kitchen that prepares snacks and lunches, large age-appropriate playgrounds, and safety features like antimicrobial filtration in classrooms and a leading-edge security system.

However, they don’t appear to offer extended evening or late pick-up programs. This can be important for parents with demanding work schedules.

Pros

  • Well-rounded early education program
  • Highly qualified teaching staff
  • Uses the nationally accredited A Beka phonics curriculum
  • Accredited with Gold Seal Quality Care designation
  • On-site kitchen provides snacks and lunches

CrossRoad Church caught our attention for its balanced approach to early learning. Teachers follow state-approved curricula but also add their own twist to make lessons more engaging and suited to each child’s developmental stage.

The programs are designed around age groups. For example, in the 2-year-old classroom, teachers focus on important developmental milestones. They do this through songs, stories, and large motor activities that help kids stay active and curious.

For VPK students, the school uses the ELL Plus curriculum. This supports academic, social-emotional, and developmental growth for children ages four to five.

Students also gather weekly for chapel time. They sing, read, and pray together as a school community.

Another thing parents may appreciate is the affordability. Some programs start at around $200 per month. This makes it one of the more budget-friendly preschool options in Jacksonville.

However, the school doesn’t appear to offer specialized enrichment programs like foreign language or STEM classes.

Pros

  • Offers age-specific programs
  • Uses the ELL Plus curriculum for VPK
  • Weekly chapel time
  • Affordable tuition

Cons

  • No specialized enrichment programs

We are seeing a lot of positive changes in our kids

“In my opinion, Kingdom Kids Pre-School is the best pre-school in the town. My son went to this school in 2018 and after 6 years we enrolled our daughter to this school just because of the beautiful and memorable experiences we had earlier. Teachers are loving, caring and supportive and work on kiddos growth in learning different skills naming art, english, numbers, social, behavioural skills. We are seeing lot of positive changes in our kid after she started going to this school. Thank you Kingdom Kids for working so hard with lots of care and love to our children 😊”

I feel confident every day knowing my child is in such great hands

“Our child has absolutely thrived at Kingdom Kids Preschool! The teachers are nurturing, patient, and truly dedicated to the development of each child. The curriculum is a perfect blend of fun and learning, with engaging activities that foster creativity, social skills, and early academics.

The facility is always clean, organized, and inviting, and I love the regular updates they provide about my child’s progress on the electronic platform. It’s clear the staff genuinely care about the kids and work hard to create a warm, supportive environment.

I feel confident every day knowing my child is in such great hands. Highly recommend Kingdom Kids Preschool to any parent looking for a safe and enriching place for their little one.”

Primrose Schools at Glen Kernan really stands out for how thoughtfully they combine learning and care.

Teachers receive continuous training to stay prepared, including CPR and first aid certification. Each classroom has clear signage to keep health and safety protocols top of mind for staff and students.

On the learning side, the school emphasizes language development in a fun, interactive way. Through story reading and retelling, children build comprehension skills while expanding vocabulary and sequencing abilities.

Through the “Rules of the Roost” and guidance from Primrose’s Mia the Mouse, children discover the importance of kindness, responsibility, and making the community a better place.

The school’s accreditations, Service Excellence Assurance and Cognia, further reassure parents of its quality.

The only downside is that they don’t offer before- or after-school care, which can be helpful for families with longer workdays.

Pros

  • Teachers are CPR and first aid-trained
  • Clear health and safety protocols
  • Language development through interactive activities
  • Service Excellence Assurance-accredited
  • Cognia-accredited

Cons

My son is learning and growing in a safe, nurturing environment

“I’ve really enjoyed taking my son to this daycare! The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and it’s clear they genuinely care about the children. I appreciate how organized and structured everything is, especially with the curriculum they offer. It’s reassuring to know my son is learning and growing in a safe, nurturing environment. Highly recommend this daycare to other parents!”

The teachers and staff are phenomenal!

“The teachers and staff are phenomenal! Everyone is so friendly and treats you like family.

My husband and I are both so grateful for how amazing Primrose is. The daily activities are so creative, age appropriate, stimulating, and far beyond what we’d ever think to complete with them if they were staying at home.

I love the creative artwork the kids brings home. The facility is always super clean and the playground is well maintained.

We’er confident in saying that they are one of the very best schools. Yes, we miss the kids so much every single day but at the same time we’re so glad we have given them access to such an amazing daycare experience.”

The Discovery Tree Academy makes early learning feel exciting and engaging for both kids and parents.

One perk is their $100 discount for full-time enrollment. That works out to just $25 per week for four weeks, which is a great way for families to try the program without a high upfront cost.

Three-year-olds move into the Pre-K 3 program, building on language, relationships, and movement.

They also teach sensory skills to help children better understand and interact with the world around them. In addition, the FunnDaffer Curriculum and Florida Early Learning Standards guide lessons on problem-solving and socialization.

Summer camp is an educational trip offered at $215 per week. This includes meals, snacks, and field trips. It’s a fairly affordable, all-inclusive program for many families.

However, it’s a bit disappointing that they don’t have extended evening hours. This can be important for working parents who need flexible drop-off and pick-up times.

Pros

  • $100 discount for full-time enrollment
  • Teaches sensory skills
  • Ensures problem-solving and socialization
  • Fun summer camps

Cons

  • No extended evening hours

He continues to grow and learn every day

“We love this school! My son transferred here from one of the national chains. I saw an immediate difference in him.  He started talking more, having more confidence and less anxiety.  His first teacher, Ms Shawn, is amazing!  She gave him the structure he needed to understand expectations. Immediately he was given small responsibilities like clearing his own lunch plate and helping set up his cot which really helped his confidence.  His next teacher, Ms Doris, has worked hard to get him potty trained.  All of the teachers and staff really care about the kids and it shows.  The meals are nutritious and kid-friendly and even the snacks are well balanced.  They don’t move the kids from class to class just to send a teacher home early.  And it’s very clean, my son hasn’t gotten sick once since starting 9 months ago! He continues to grow and learn everyday. I’m so happy we found this place!”

An enjoyable place to have my child be every day

“Extremely professional and informative.   The thought and care they put towards the children is unbelievable! Everyone seems to work together as a team and overall an enjoyable place to have my child be at everyday!”

The Learning Experience in Jacksonville Southside really impressed us with its focus on social and emotional growth.

Their L.E.A.P.® curriculum incorporated STEM-based learning while also encouraging empathy, self-regulation, and positive social interactions.

Kids are guided through activities that promote problem-solving and emotional expression. This helps them build strong, healthy relationships from the start.

One thing I love is their inclusive approach. The center supports children with special needs or learning differences. They work closely with families and specialists to create individualized plans tailored to each child’s growth.

Parents also stay connected through the “Bubbles and Friends” app, which shares photos and updates so families always know what their child is learning and experiencing each day.

But I find the lack of tuition pricing information online to be inconvenient. This means families need to call to get details—a small hurdle for parents comparing options.

Pros

  • Provides STEM learning
  • Has a L.E.A.P® curriculum
  • Inclusive approach for children with special needs
  • “Bubbles and Friends” app keeps parents updated

Cons

  • Lack of pricing transparency

He grew so much while in their classroom

“My child attended here from 6 months to 3 years of age and he was treated with care and kindness. His 2 year old classroom teachers Mrs.Andrea and Mrs.Yahiara were amazing to and for my boy. He grew so much while in their classroom including social development, potty training, and increased capacity for communication.”

I’m updated daily about my son’s progress

“My son loves TLE. He has been so welcomed and comfortable since starting about 2 months ago. He adores his teachers Kasey and Kali. Both are very caring to the children at TLE and they provide engaging activities throughout the day. I’m updated daily about my son’s progress. Kasey helped him become potty trained in a month. Kali has become someone he looks to for guidance. I truly appreciate everyone I’ve encountered at TLE. Stephanie at the front desk has made our transition to this daycare a breeze. Even as a child attending she still looks after my son. I’m so grateful!!”
