We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Quality of Work: I focused on contractors known for durable craftsmanship and high-quality finishes.

Communication: I prioritized companies that are responsive, transparent about timelines, and easy to work with throughout the renovation process.

Customization: Every basement has different needs, so I looked for businesses that offer flexible designs tailored to each homeowner’s preferences.

Experience: I selected contractors with proven experience in handling basement remodels, waterproofing, and full-scale renovations.

Reputation: I reviewed customer feedback of contractors consistently praised for reliable results.

Basements often become the forgotten part of the house, mostly used for storing old, unused stuff. And when my folks decided to renovate the space, we were met with moisture and organization issues.

That made me realize basement renovations need more than just remodeling. We needed a contractor who understands waterproofing, layout planning, and how to maximize every square foot of the space.

The best companies don’t just upgrade a basement, they transform it into a functional extension of your home that fits your lifestyle and adds long-term value.

With that, here are the best basement renovation contractors in Jacksonville that you can trust to bring your vision to life.

How much do basement renovations cost in Jacksonville?

Basement renovations in Jacksonville typically cost from $15,000 to $75,000 or more, depending on the size, materials used, and customization features. Prices also depend on structural work and whether full basement conversions are done.

BeeTree Homes are for those who want a renovation experience that’s polished and heavily design-focused from the start.

The company, founded by professional designer Katrina Hosea, emphasizes creativity and thoughtful space planning across all projects.

I also like that they operate as a full design-build firm. Meaning, the design team and construction crews work together under a single process rather than passing clients between multiple contractors.

Their “Client First Process” especially stood out because it’s designed to keep homeowners informed about timelines, expectations, and progress throughout the renovation.

With 23 years of experience, it’s obvious why they win awards, with a 2014 Remodelers Award for Whole-House Remodeling being one of them. They are also members of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry and the National Association of Home Builders.

The main issue I noticed involved communication with project phasing, specifically for clients hoping to continue living on-site during construction.

Pros

  • Over 20 years of experience
  • Strong design-build approach
  • Award-winning company
  • Experienced in large-scale renovations

Cons

  • Communication issues

The best part of this entire project was the result

After interviewing several GCs about a adding a sunroom & home gym to my 1940’s house, I selected BeeTree Homes because of their reputation, great communication, and their process. The contract had very specific milestones, but also allowed for changes and adjustments along the way, which was great because I ended up adding /changing a couple of things once we got started. Were there challenges? Yes, especially with the weather, but nothing directly related to BeeTree’s performance.

Their project foreman, Aaron, did a great job of keeping me informed about timelines, which crews would be working on specific days, and how much noise to expect so I could plan accordingly. He was also very prompt and always took time to answer my questions. However, the best part of this entire project was the end result… everything we discussed from the inital interview through the design phase and architectural drawings became a reality! And I am 100% happy!”

Their contractors were as kind and considerate as they could be

I knew I was going to like Bee Tree when I met the owner, Katrina. We hit it off and she was very knowledgeable about her industry. Next we met her daughter, Shelby, who does not fall far from the tree! Shelby and her staff came out and listened to my ideas; told me to share any inspiration pics I had and designed 3 different plans for our bathroom reno. We picked the one that was the most involved and eventually proved to be everything we wanted and more!

Were there delays and other issues—by all means, but Bee Tree and most of their contractors were as kind and considerate as they could be. Our main project is complete…and now I’m renovating even more with Bee Tree—I guess I’m not ready to get rid of them! They are all that nice!

A friend tried Legacy Renovations, and I can see why they are a good fit for those dealing with remodeling and post-damage restorations.

They don’t just renovate homes for aesthetics; they also help rebuild spaces after fire, water, or mold-related damage. I also appreciate that they work directly with insurance companies during the process to ease the stress.

Another standout is their focus on balancing craftsmanship with personalized design. From what I gathered, they aim to tailor renovations based on the client’s style and budget rather than pushing generic remodel packages.

Legacy’s restoration background also adds a practical touch to basement renovations, where moisture or water damage may require repair.

Unfortunately, they don’t directly handle water removal themselves. So, clients may still need to coordinate with separate remediation companies first.

Pros

  • Works with insurance companies
  • Personalized remodeling approach
  • Experience with post-fire and water damage rebuilds

Cons

  • No water removal services available

I genuinely couldn’t ask for a better rebuild

I cannot say enough great things about Legacy Renovations! They completed a full rebuild on my one-bedroom condo, and the results are absolutely incredible. The quality of work, attention to detail, and overall professionalism exceeded all my expectations.

Jason, the owner, runs an outstanding company. Daniel led the project and was fantastic to work with—organized, communicative, and truly invested in making sure everything was done right. Ashley was also incredibly helpful throughout the process and made everything feel smooth and stress-free.

The entire team did an amazing job. I genuinely couldn’t ask for a better rebuild and would highly recommend Legacy Renovations to anyone looking for top-quality renovation work.”

They performed the work beautifully

“Legacy Construction recently completed work to replace a water damaged cabinet panel (thanks to a leak with our dishwasher). They provided a thoughtful assessment on how to tackle to problem- including safety measures to brace our farmhouse sink while replacing the cabinet panel. They performed the work beautifully- their staff were timely, professional and worked very conscientiously . The work site was properly covered and they left our space neat and clean. We would not hesitate  working with them for our future needs.”

CHRR has more of a hands-on contractor feel than most large renovation companies, and honestly, that’s part of their strengths.

An immediate eye catcher is the consultation process. Instead of giving vague estimates, they provide detailed written reports. These include projected costs, timelines, and the exact scope of work involved.

They even include contact lists for partner stores where clients may receive discounts.

From woodworking to electrical installation and general home improvements, the company is comfortable handling both repairs and larger-scale remodeling projects.

Another positive feature is their focus on getting projects done the first time correctly. They value every client’s opinion and incorporate ideas instead of rushing through the job.

My only gripe? They can’t bill insurance companies directly. This may complicate things for homeowners handling renovations connected to damage claims.

Pros

  • Transparent consultation process
  • Wide range of hands-on repair skills
  • Helpful partner store discounts

Cons

  • Cannot bill insurance companies directly

We are very happy customers

Joe has got quite the talent and experience! He transformed our bathroom into something extraordinary. We thought we knew what we wanted to do with the bathroom space. However, Joe’s suggestions and hard work made it ten times better than we initially expected. When you choose Joe, you are getting more than just remodeling. He helps you figure out how to customize the space and make it everything you didn’t even know you wanted. So, other than choosing Joe for your contracting needs, my advice to new customers is not to worry if you don’t know exactly what can be done because Joe can help you figure that all out. We are very happy customers and we will continue to use Joe for all our home renovation needs.”

The level of work is phenomenal

“We have had Joe do two remodeling jobs for us so far and absolutely love him and his work.  The level of professionalism far exceeds other companies.  He treats your home as if it was his own, down to making sure every detail is to the liking of his customer.  Our last bathroom remodel had some complications from previous work, but Joe didn’t hesitate to jump in and tackle the challenge and corrected all of someone else’s mistakes before he could complete his remodel.  The level of work is phenomenal and we highly recommend him for any remodeling jobs!  We fully trust him and will be using him in any future remodeling we do.

Positive: Responsiveness, Punctuality, Quality, Professionalism, Value”

Homes Remodeling & Renovating (H2R) is very centered around customization. Instead of pushing cookie-cutter remodels, they focus heavily on clients’ personal style and day-to-day lifestyle.

Many rave about their free quotes because it gives a chance to explore ideas without feeling pressured to pay immediately.

Their services extend beyond basement remodeling. H2R provides interior framing, drywall, full living space transformations, and more, handling both the functional and aesthetic aspects of renovations.

What stood out the most to me is how collaborative the process is. The team communicates clearly and guides clients through decisions instead of taking over the project.

The company’s focus on craftsmanship stands out, prioritizing long-term quality over quick cosmetic upgrades.

The tradeoff, though, is pricing. Compared to some businesses, their renovation costs may land on the higher end for certain homeowners.

Pros

  • Free quotes available
  • Highly customized renovation approach
  • Strong focus on quality craftsmanship

Cons

  • More expensive than some businesses

They went so far above and beyond our expectations

My wife and I recently had a bad leak in our master shower of our twenty+ old home. After consulting with our insurance company and a couple of contractors, we chose Nick and his crew from Homes Remodeling & Renovation to help fix our problem. Nick worked with us and the insurance company to quickly fix our water damaged walls, creating a beautiful, modern enclosure we look forward to using every morning. Their skilled craftsmanship and attention to detail was amazing. They went so far above and beyond our expectations that we are having them help us with other renovations”

Homes R&R is very reasonably priced and clear upfront about costs

“Absolutely amazing work!  Before I worked with Nick and team at Homes Remodeling & Renovating, I was worried about contracting for our bathroom remodel project.  In the end, Homes R&R were so great at the remodeling work that we added redoing the floors for the entire house and another bathroom.  We are so happy with the results and how quickly they completed the work and clean while never sacrificing quality and attention to detail.   I really appreciate how Nick is always providing detailed information about how the job is progressing and making recommendations along the way.  Best of all, Homes R&R is very reasonably priced and clear upfront about costs.  Thank you Nick and the whole team!”

If you are the type to value companies built around long-term relationships and community roots, then Designer Lifestyles is for you. Since it’s family-owned and operated, the business has a more personal feel than others.

What I found interesting is their history. After serving 9 years in the military, owner Chris Mayer helped grow the company from a small flooring business into a full-scale remodeling firm.

Their approach is quite great, too. Instead of encouraging homeowners to move, Designer Lifestyles focuses on improving the home while helping families stay in the house. This maintains neighborhood connections and routine even while renovating.

The firm’s service area is also pretty broad, covering multiple counties throughout the First Coast region.

The biggest weakness appears to be communication consistency. I noticed very slow responses through email and phone support.

Pros

  • Experienced in full-scale remodeling projects
  • Broad service coverage
  • Lets clients stay in their homes during renovation

Cons

  • Inconsistent communication through email or phone

Very happy with the outcome

Hats off to Designer Lifestyles on replacing my kitchen backsplash and getting done in less than 3 days, doing the job with great skill and at a very good price:  JR suggested a wonderful high quality tile that blended well with my current cabinets and Greg did an outstanding job installing it.  Very happy with the outcome!”

We could not ask for a more professional experience

“We were so pleased with our decision to go with Designer Lifestyles. Lisa was super and efficient. She was a pleasure to work with and did a wonderful job designing our new kitchen layout which doubled our kitchen size.  Michael  and the rest of the teams were professional, easy to reach out to, returned calls immediately,  courteous, etc. We could not ask for a more professional experience. Everyone treated us like we were important. Everyone went beyond our expectations to ensure we were happy. We highly recommend them and will use them again for our future projects.”
