Move, Groove, and Learn at the 5 Best Dance Classes

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Class Variety: I prioritized dance studios that offer multiple styles. This includes but is not limited to ballet, hip-hop, and beginner-friendly programs.

Instructor Experience: I looked for studios with trained instructors who have strong teaching backgrounds and professional dance experience.

Welcoming Environment: I focused on studios known for creating supportive, beginner-friendly spaces where students feel comfortable learning at their own pace.

Student Feedback: I considered reviews from students and parents regarding teaching quality and overall class experience.

Flexible Programs: I included studios with convenient schedules and different age group options for both recreational and serious dancers.

Value for Money: I prioritized dance studios that offer fair pricing, package deals, or flexible membership options.

When I first started looking for dance classes, I didn’t realize how many options were out there. Some focused on competitive training, while others were more casual and beginner-friendly. It became hard to figure out which classes were actually worth trying.

So, I spent time researching the best dance classes in Jacksonville. I focused on teaching quality, class variety, and overall atmosphere. Luckily, I found places that welcome everyone, whatever their skill level.

If you’ve been wanting to start dancing or simply improve your skills, these Jacksonville studios are definitely worth checking out. They offer supportive instruction, flexible programs, and classes for all experience levels.

How much do dance classes in Jacksonville cost?

Dance classes in Jacksonville typically cost between $15 and $180 or more, depending on the studio and number of weekly classes. Some studios also offer trial classes, family discounts, or unlimited monthly memberships for better value.

The Dance Shack caught my attention because of how welcoming and beginner-friendly their setup feels.

They have a free Newbie Class every Friday at 7:00 PM. People can try Latin dances like Salsa and Bachata alongside Swing styles like East Coast and Hustle. Since no appointment is needed, it feels approachable even for complete beginners.

They also offer a free introductory private lesson, which I think is a nice touch for anyone wanting more personalized instruction.

As for the prices, everything feels pretty reasonable. Group classes range from $15 for members and $20 for non-members. Also, private lessons start at $74 for members and $89 for non-members.

I checked their $99 lifetime “Shacker” membership, and it also seems affordable, considering the discounts and bonus classes included.

The only downside here is that the free Friday classes fill up very quickly. So, arriving early is important.

Pros

  • Free beginner-friendly Friday classes
  • Affordable membership and class pricing
  • Free introductory private lesson

Cons

  • Free Friday classes fill up quickly

It is worth every penny, and you will absolutely not regret it

“My now husband and I decided that we wanted to do dance lessons for our first dance after watching both really good and really bad dances ha. We worked with Jaime for about 2 months and she created the most amazing first dance choreography for us. We were shocked at how easy and digestible she made all of the moves throughout our lessons. We are now going back for more so that we can learn the basics because we enjoyed the dance and Jaime so so much! If you are debating doing dance lessons, here’s your sign to do it!! It is worth every penny and you will absolutely not regret it!”

The instructors are friendly and make you feel extremely comfortable

I have had such a great experience at The Dance Shack so far. About 3 weeks ago I went in for a free newbie class and decided to become a member the same night. I went completely by myself (because all my friends are too scared to try dancing) and had a blast! No partner is needed, which is great for me. The instructors are friendly and make you feel extremely comfortable. Eddie is fantastic and takes the time to personally greet everyone who visits his studio! There is absolutely no pressure to buy anything…if you want to learn to dance at your own pace, in your price range, this is the place to go!!”

Trying dance classes at DivaDance is a more fun and empowering experience than a traditional dance studio.

What really caught my attention is their focus on creating a judgment-free environment. Dancers of all ages, body types, and skill levels can feel comfortable joining classes.

DivaDance offers choreography dance classes, therapy-inspired dance sessions, and follow-along dance cardio. They even have performance opportunities.

From what I’ve seen, the atmosphere is designed to help people build confidence while still having fun.

I also think their two-week unlimited trial for $59 is fairly affordable, especially compared to paying for individual sessions. It gives newcomers enough time to explore multiple classes before fully committing.

Another thing I like is that they host dance parties for birthdays, bachelorette celebrations, and team-building events. These add a more social element to the studio.

My only gripe? DivaDance is exclusively for adults. So younger students would need to look elsewhere for classes.

Pros

  • Affordable unlimited two-week trial
  • Modern and energetic class offerings
  • Offers private group dance events

Cons

  • Adult-only classes

They celebrate every age, body type, and level of experience

DivaDance Jax has absolutely CHANGED MY LIFE!!!! I moved to Jax from Atlanta and desperately needed a community and this studio and everyone in it have made my life so beautiful and full. The classes are incredible, open to all levels and I love the way they celebrate every age, body type, and level of experience! It is truly a melting pot of confidence and joy and I would encourage anyone who is considering taking a class to GO FOR IT!”

A Social Affair Dance Studio impressed a colleague because of its strong focus on ballroom dancing and wedding preparation.

One thing that immediately stood out was their introductory special program for new members.

For only $29, you get three private lessons, one group lesson, and one practice party session. It feels very affordable for beginners wanting to try dance lessons without spending too much up front.

They also teach a wide variety of dances, including Bachata, Cuban Motion, and several other ballroom and Latin styles.

What I especially like is their wedding dance program. Personal trainers help couples create a custom-choreographed first dance complete with an introduction, body, and artistic ending.

It feels very personalized and designed to help couples feel confident during an important moment.

However, their classes mostly focus on ballroom and partner dancing. If students want to learn hip-hop or dance cardio, they have to apply elsewhere.

Pros

  • Affordable introductory package
  • Strong wedding dance programs
  • Wide selection of ballroom and Latin dances

Cons

  • Limited options outside partner dancing

Helped us learn to be comfortable

Worked with Tom for our wedding, not only did he choregraph our dance custom to our level of learning, our story, and our song, but he really helped us learn to be comfortable dancing basic combinations to several different styles of music so that we were prepared for our reception as well. The Friday night dance parties are a great way to practice what you have learned, but there are also so many helpful members who will teach you things you may have missed! So welcoming and helped us overcome our misgivings about our ability

Price assessment: Reasonable price

Services: Private lessons, Beginner’s classes, Adult lessons”

A wonderful dance studio that attracts wonderful and talented people

“I am new to Jacksonville’s  Dance Scene. From the moment I walked through the door, knowing no one, to now a few months later – I have met some many wonderful people and had so many laughs while learning new dances and techniques.  A Social Affair is truly a wonderful dance studio which attracts wonderful and talented people. I joined staff and students this weekend at Dance Vision’s Tampa event. I am amazed at the stamina, organization, and enthusiasm the ASA staff, especially Larry the owner, Ashley the manager and instructor, Muhidin who seemed get more and more energy as the heats continued through the evening and Tom who helped him get the students and instructors on the dance floor for their heats.  I am truly blessed to have witnessed this studio in action.

Positive: Communication, Quality, Professionalism, Value”

Dansations Performing Arts Center stands out because of its long history and strong focus on youth dance education.

They’ve been serving Jacksonville for over 25 years, and I like that their philosophy centers on creating a nurturing environment. I love that students can grow both technically and creatively.

Dansations’ range of classes is another thing I found impressive. They offer ballet, hip-hop, contemporary dance, and more for students ages 3 to 18. I also think their Tiny Paws Program is a unique addition since it allows children as young as 18 months to explore rhythm and movement alongside a caregiver.

After a trial session, I can say that the studio feels especially welcoming for younger dancers and families looking for a supportive learning atmosphere.

But because of the popular programs, trial class slots are limited. Unfortunately, they do not always announce when those openings become available.

Pros

  • Over 25 years of experience
  • Wide variety of dance classes
  • Unique Tiny Paws Program for toddlers

Cons

  • Limited availability for trial classes

My daughter has thrived here

We just started Dansations this year and have found a warm, wonderful group of instructors – as well as a welcoming owner! The variety of classes is fantastic and they offer several times/days for many core classes so it is very convenient. My daughter has thrived here – challenged while not put under pressure. We aren’t currently interested in competition level and really appreciate the studio for not solely focusing on this area of dance (while still offering it for those interested). We may pursue it in the future, and would be happy to continue with Damsations if we did. We also like the fact that the recital/costumes are included in the monthly class fee – no surprises later in the year!

Price assessment: Reasonable prce

Services: Youth classes, Advanced classes, Jazz, Intermediate classes”

All of the staff are awesome

“We have really enjoyed being members of Dansations for 3 years now. All of the staff are awesome and my daughter enjoys her classes. Her teachers are amazing, very patient, kind, high expectations, and love what they do. Joelle at the front desk is always helpful, kind, caring, and professional. Ms. Kim does a great job keeping everything running smoothly. Great communication with families. Overall we enjoy attending this studio and thank you for everything you do!  :)”

Bravo School of Dance is popular among locals because of its combination of professional-level instruction and family-friendly atmosphere. Established in 2006, the studio brings nearly 20 years of experience.

Their facility also seems thoughtfully designed. They have three dance rooms and a large open lobby with viewing windows. This allows parents to comfortably observe classes. That setup feels especially helpful for families with younger dancers.

Owner Kyle Wynn has been partnering with notable choreographers like Twyla Tharp, Jennifer Muller, and David Parsons. That kind of professional background adds credibility and shows the studio values high-quality instruction.

Bravo also offers classes for students of all levels—from ages 3 to adult—which makes the studio accessible to many different dancers.

However, pricing is noticeably higher than that of some competitors. This is especially seen with registration fees and monthly tuition costs.

Pros

  • 20 years of experience
  • Positive and family-friendly atmosphere
  • Classes available for all ages and skill levels

Cons

  • More expensive than many other studios

At Bravo, they teach teamwork, respect, and discipline

Bravo School of Dance is an amazing studio with amazing staff and dance families. Owners are accommodating and caring. I toured other studios before landing at Bravo. No regrets! The other parents are friendly and welcoming. My first year, I had lots of questions but the other parents and staff were always there to answer any questions I had. All I had to do was ask. At Bravo, they teach teamwork, respect, and discipline. Bravo students and parents stand out at performances and competitions for their considerate and gracious attitudes and top tier choreography. This studio and all its dancers and families have become an extension of my family forever!”

Hands down the best studio in North East Florida

“Hands down the best studio in North East Florida! The owners Kyle and Hailey are truly passionate about their craft. Bravo has been around for over a decade for a reason. If you’re looking to get your kids in a dance program whether recreational or competitive Bravo School of Dance is it!”
