5 Mental Health Clinics in Jacksonville to Support Your Well-Being

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Range of Services: I focused on clinics offering a variety of treatments, such as individual therapy and psychiatric care, to meet different needs.

Licensed Professionals: I prioritized clinics with experienced, licensed therapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists.

Environment and Accessibility: I selected clinics with welcoming spaces and convenient scheduling options, including telehealth services.

Patient Feedback: I considered testimonials and reviews, especially those highlighting empathy, professionalism, and positive outcomes.

Finding the right mental health clinic can feel overwhelming, especially when you are already dealing with emotional challenges. With so many options, it’s not always easy to know which clinics provide the right balance of professional expertise and genuine care.

Many people spend hours researching providers, checking credentials, and reading reviews just to find a place where they feel safe and supported.

To make things easier, I looked into some of the most trusted mental health clinics in Jacksonville. These are the places that I believe offer reliable support, while helping patients feel comfortable throughout their mental health journey.

How much do mental health clinics charge in Jacksonville?

In Jacksonville, mental health clinics typically charge between $80 to $200 per session, depending on the provider’s experience, specialization, and whether the clinic accepts insurance. Some also offer sliding-scale fees or payment plans for clients who can’t pay big fees upfront.

One of the first things that stood out to me about Serenity Mental Health Centers is their strong focus on providing advanced treatment options for complex conditions.

Founded in 2017, the clinic was built to address the growing need for issues like anxiety, depression, and more. This clear mission shows in all their approaches.

I also appreciate that they let patients work closely with a dedicated psychiatrist who takes time to understand their concerns and experiences. This allows for more tailored and responsive care.

Another highlight is their range of services. SMHC offers innovative options like TMS therapy and ketamine therapy. There’s also medication management and ADHD testing/support.

These treatments make them a strong option for individuals who may not have responded well to traditional therapy alone.

However, they don’t appear to offer regular talk therapy or counseling services on-site.

Pros

  • Patients work with dedicated psychiatrists
  • Innovative therapies
  • Has medication management
  • ADHD testing

Cons

  • No on-site talk therapy or counseling

Now I feel like a brand new person

“This place has literally been life saving! The entire staff has been so kind and supportive. Jah has been an absolutely amazing TMS tech and I am so thankful for her. Dr. Tyson has been great and I love that he hasn’t tried to push more medication on me. Instead, he takes the time to listen and find a solution instead of just putting a bandaid on it. I was at one of the lowest points of my life when I first went in and now I feel like a brand new person.”

After years of struggles, I finally feel like myself again

“From Day One, everyone at Serenity has treated me with kindness, compassion and respect. I got lost the first day trying to find the clinic and Ashley came downstairs, out to the street to find me with a positive attitude and calmness to help ease my anxiousness. I met with the manager, Kaitlyn, who went over their services and provided a warm welcome to the practice. Shelby was my patient care advocate for the TMS Program. I spent 7 weeks undergoing treatment with her and am so grateful to have had her there everyday to provide support, encouragement and positivity. TMS saved my life. After years of struggles, I finally feel like me again. Serenity feels like a family and they truly want the best for you and will help you every step of the way.”

Their services include individual and family therapy, couples counseling, and anger management courses, among others. This makes it a well-rounded option for diverse needs.

I also appreciate Dr. D’Arienzo’s recognized expertise. He was selected for the Jacksonville Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 list (2012), highlighting his professional achievements and impact in the community.

The clinic also offers forensic psychology services. This demonstrates a focus on addressing specialized mental health and legal intersections.

One thing to note is that Dr. D’Arienzo does not provide on-site psychiatric evaluations or medication management.

Pros

  • Versatile services for all age groups
  • Recognized by the Jacksonville Business Journal
  • Comprehensive forensic psychology services

Cons

  • No on-site psychiatric evaluations

This is a great starting point

“This course most definitely opened the line of communication between my fiance and I. We were able to have conversations with each other about things that we needed to explore further. I always knew that my husband was my best friend, but this course help me explore why our marriage will work. Communication and respect are very important. Learning each other’s values and beliefs are very important. If you are thinking about getting married to someone, this is a great starting point before the walk down the aisle together.”

I’m happy I took the course

“Since COVID hit it became harder to find a counselor that could help us complete pre-marital counseling in-person. Also, my fiance and I have 2 children and no babysitter to watch them if we were to choose in-person counseling. I found D’Arienzo’s online course which was clear, concise, easy to follow and easy to talk-through each section with your partner! My fiance and I have been together for 8 years and we have 2 children. A lot of the assignments we had previously talked through but it was definitely good to refresh our memories and get some things off of our chest. I would HIGHLY recommend any couple to take the course ESPECIALLY if you’re a new couple (together less than 4 years). They hit on some subjects that we REALLY needed to iron out. I’m happy I took the course. Even if you’ve been together 10+ years it’s still good to talk out things you tend to bury/overlook in your relationship. Highly recommend!”

Thriveworks stands out for its clinician-founded and -led approach. They combine therapy and psychiatry under one roof.

Founded in 2008, the clinic has grown into a leading mental health provider with over 2,600 clinicians across the U.S. They offer in-person and online care, which ensures a wide range of expertise and flexibility for all clients.

I also appreciate Thriveworks’ commitment to accessibility. They are in-network with more insurance plans than any other mental health provider nationwide. This allows many clients to pay as little as $0 to $55 per session in copays.

For self-pay clients, initial therapy sessions cost $200 to $240. Follow-ups are at around $160 to $195, both of which are fairly affordable.

One thing I noticed, though, is the lack of residential or inpatient treatment programs. These can be essential for those who need intensive, round-the-clock mental health support.

Pros

  • Wide range of services
  • Broad insurance coverage
  • Affordable self-pay options
  • Offers in-person and online services

Cons

  • No residential or inpatient treatment

Incredibly understanding, non-judgmental, and made me feel heard

“I just want to express how truly amazing my therapist is. From the very first session, I felt a genuine connection with her. She was incredibly understanding, non-judgmental, and made me feel heard and supported. It’s rare to find someone who creates such a safe space to open up, and I’m so grateful for that. I’m excited to see where this journey takes me and how much growth and healing will come from it. I have a strong sense that this is the right step for me, and I can’t wait to continue working with her.”

Compassionate, understanding, and always available

“I’ve needed I for some very personal issues. They are compassionate, understanding and always available when I need them. I highly recommend them for whatever they might be able to provide you with depending on your needs.”

McGuire Recovery provides specialized care for adolescent and adult mental health and addiction treatment.

Their Ascend Program supports teens struggling with substance use, self-medication, and underlying mental health challenges. The Aspire Program focuses on adolescents with primary mental health diagnoses.

Both combine group therapy with individual and family sessions. This helps clients build coping skills and stronger relationships.

The team’s expertise is another standout. Michael McGuire, a licensed addictions and trauma therapist, integrates EMDR and the Neuroaffective Relational Model (NARM) to address trauma and addiction.

Annie McGuire is a licensed mental health counselor with over a decade of experience. She specializes in LGBTQ+ care and uses trauma-informed approaches to foster self-acceptance and resilience.

I also appreciate that clients undergo regular drug testing. This helps maintain honesty and rebuild trust with family members.

My only concern is that the clinic does not offer telehealth or virtual therapy sessions.

Pros

  • Caters to adolescent and adult patients
  • Trauma-informed approaches
  • Regular drug testing
  • Highly-certified owners

Cons

  • No telehealth or virtual therapy

I would highly recommend

“Mike helped my son overcome many issues. I believe my sons recovery was because of Mikes support, understanding, and his ability to relate to what my son was going through. My son found him to be an inspiration and felt he had a good and trustworthy friend helping him through his journey. Through all of this, I finally have my son back. He is back in college, working full time and is happy more times than not. I would highly recommend Mike.”

Impressed with Mike’s skills

“My Husband and I have been receiving couples therapy with Mike and we are so happy we found him. He does an excellent job of staying neutral, providing psychoeducation, being available to us and guiding us in our therapeutic journey. As a Therapist myself, I have only been impressed with Mike’s skills and is someone that I would highly recommend to anyone seeking therapy. Thank you for your services, Mike!”

5. The Practice

Operating Hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 10:30 AM – 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM

The Practice stands out for its holistic approach, focusing on the connection between mind, body, and spirit to support long-term wellness.

They offer a diverse range of services. These include psychotherapy, psychiatry, and ketamine infusions. This allows clients to explore both traditional and innovative treatment options in one place.

I also like how accessible their initial consultation is at $49. It’s relatively affordable, and the fee is either refunded if you’re not a fit or applied toward treatment if you continue.

Their credibility is reinforced through affiliations with organizations like the American Psychiatric Association, AMA, and Psychology Today. The Practice also provides helpful online resources to guide patients with different treatments and their benefits.

However, they don’t have specialized programs for children or adolescents. This can be a limitation for families seeking age-specific mental health care.

Pros

  • Affordable initial consultations
  • Strong affiliations with known organizations
  • Diverse range of services

Cons

  • No programs for children or adolescents

It’s truly the best place for those who need help

“The practice has been part of my mental health journey since I was a teenager. It’s truly the best place for those who need help getting medications and treatment for things many don’t understand. Charlie has been the best thing for me, my son and other family members. I don’t like doctors and have anxiety about seeing them but not Charlie he’s easy to talk to, knowledgeable and understanding. The office staff has their moments but if you’re lucky you get Z and he’s the best and takes care of things immediately to fix any issues. They are like an extension of our family I trust completely.”

I always feel heard and supported here

“Professional, compassionate, and thorough care. I always feel heard and supported here. Sometimes the wait for appointments is long— but in every other way this place and the people are exceptional… always worth the wait! The staff is friendly, and Charles Maddix truly listens and cares. Grateful to have found this practice almost a decade ago!”
