The 5 Best Distilleries in Jacksonville for Pour Decisions That Are Worth It

distilleries-in-jacksonville
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Locally Sourced Ingredients: We looked for makers who actually use regional agriculture to build their mash bills. It means you get a genuine taste of Northeast Florida instead of generic bulk grain.

Production Scale: We checked if they distill grain-to-glass in-house rather than just bottling outsourced liquor. A true local craft maker manages every step right in their own facility.

Tasting Experience: You want a place where you can sit down and enjoy a cocktail. We prioritized spots with welcoming taprooms or guided tours.

Spirit Variety: We compared their product lineups to see who caters strictly to whiskey aficionados and who offers clear liquors for mixed drinks. This helps you figure out which stop fits your group's palate.

Accessibility: We looked at where they’re located and how easy it is to buy their bottles without a massive road trip. A great local bottle does you no good if you can never get your hands on it.

I used to think all liquor tasted like burning rubbing alcohol until a bartender poured me a proper small-batch Florida rum. That single glass completely changed how I look at regional spirits.

Turns out, authentic flavors exist if you skip the crowded nightclubs and sit at a proper tasting bar instead. So, with the help of my team, we rounded up the best distilleries in Jacksonville to get you a genuinely good bottle, not mass-market ones.

1. Sailbird Distilling

Website: https://sailbirddistilling.com/

Address: 228 West King St, St. Augustine

Contact: (904) 417-8231 | [email protected]

Hours: Wednesday-Thursday, Sunday, 2:00 PM – 9:00 PM | Friday-Saturday, 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Sailbird Distilling keeps their output incredibly tiny, capping production at just 20 to 25 bottles per run. This gives them absolute quality control over every single drop of liquor, which is perfect for getting an authentic regional spirit rather than a mass-market clone.

They build their rums entirely from pure Florida cane sugar to highlight local agriculture. Plus, their fruit liqueurs rely on fresh whole citrus, and you can even see the natural lemon oil residue left inside the glass.

The lineup is surprisingly diverse for such a tiny space. They cover everything from gin infused with indigenous datil peppers to whiskey finished in dual barrels.

The downside is that their severe production limits mean bottles sell out fast, and online shipments can take two full weeks to arrive.

Pros

  • Strict quality control
  • Authentic regional spirit
  • Local and natural ingredients used
  • Diverse lineup of beverages

Cons

  • Limited availability

Great local distillery worthy of stopping by to check out!  Sample the spirits and try a cocktail! Friendly staff and nice vibe. Its off the beaten path to avoid the crowds of downtown St Augustine.

Fantastic experience with welcoming and attentive staff

Went here in the beginning of October with my girlfriend and We had a fantastic experience, and I’m so happy we came in!

We sampled several of their own spirits that had really good taste. The atmosphere was nice and relaxing.I really recommend dropping by this local distillery. Really appreciated how attentive the owner was and how she welcomed us like we were family. Will definitely stop by again.

Address: 417 Magnolia Street

Contact: (904) 372-0856 | [email protected]

Hours: Tuesday-Wednesday, 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM | Thursday-Saturday, 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Burlock and Barrel Distillery, located in the Brooklyn neighborhood, is perfect for groups planning weekend outings who want to see a real working production floor. They even host weekly events, like comedy shows, book clubs, and Pilates.

They manage the entire grain-to-glass operation internally. The co-founders even sign every bottle label to verify the quality themselves.

Every cocktail on their lounge menu is built exclusively on house-distilled whiskeys. Their standout release is a rare rice-grain whiskey inspired by traditional Laotian spirits.

But because they only pour house spirits, anyone who dislikes whiskey will have to settle for beer or wine.

And sadly, there are no set public tour schedules, so visitors must request access upon arrival.

Pros

  • Central Brooklyn neighborhood location
  • Hosts weekly events
  • House-distilled whiskey creations
  • Co-founders sign every bottle

Cons

  • Not suited for non-whiskey drinkers
  • No fixed public tour schedule

Welcoming atmosphere with plenty of options

This place is such a vibe. I felt like I was walking into an episode of ‘Cheers’. The bartender Riley is super friendly. She took time to explain all the drink options and give me a tour of the distillery. The owner was there and hung out with the customers at the bar (most owners don’t take the time to greet their customers). They even had fun YouTube videos playing in the background. Would definitely recommend his place. There are plenty of whiskey options.

Passionate owners and great drinks

This is absolutely the vibe you are looking for in a distillery.  The owners are absolutely passionate about their drinks.  We enjoyed visiting and felt at home with a list of drinks that intrigued all pallets.

The catch is that they completely omit aged brown liquors, so bourbon lovers are out of luck.

4. The Jacksontucky

the-jacksontucky

Website: https://thejacksontucky.com/

Address: 1100 Shetter Ave

Contact: (904) 998-0200

Hours: Contact for availability

The Jacksontucky is the first whiskey maker established in Jacksonville Beach, bringing dedicated craft production to a coastal community that previously had none.

They even won a Gold medal at the San Francisco Spirits Competition for their flagship release.

They rely on custom copper pot stills that create a tight vapor path to concentrate flavor much better than standard column stills. Everything they release comes straight from a single barrel at full proof, ensuring every bottle retains its natural oils and aromatics.

But since every bottle clocks in between 114 and 130 proof, the alcohol heat might intimidate casual drinkers.

Pros

  • First Jacksonville Beach whiskey maker
  • Gold medal-winning flagship spirit
  • Custom copper pot stills for concentrated flavors
  • Every release is bottled from a single barrel

Cons

  • Strong cask-strength proofs

5. Marlin & Barrel Distillery

Website: https://a1aspirits.com/

Address: 232 S 8th St, Fernandina Beach

Contact: (904) 534-6984 | [email protected]

Hours: Sunday-Wednesday, 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM | Thursday-Saturday, 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Marlin & Barrel Distillery stands out for formulating their spirits with bright, balanced notes, whether sipped neat or mixed into cocktails. This flexibility appeals heavily to local aficionados looking to buy small-batch bottles for their home bars.

They anchor their recipes in Northeast Florida by pairing coastal elements with regional ingredients, resulting in a crisp flavor profile with real depth. Instead of pushing for massive scale, they focus on tight production controls to keep every run consistent.

Their portfolio covers a wide variety of liquor types, including rums, vodkas, gin, bourbon, and botanical-infused ciders.

The main drawback is that they can’t accommodate walk-ins for tailored flights or private sessions. Drop-in guests are strictly limited to the standard bar menu, sadly.

Pros

  • Spirits have bright and balanced notes
  • Regional ingredients used
  • Tight production control
  • Wide variety of liquors

Cons

  • No walk-in tailored flights or private sessions

Thoroughly enjoyed first visit and products

From the service, to the tasting, to the laid-back fun atmosphere, I thoroughly enjoyed everything about my first visit to Marlin & Barrel Distillery!

All the drinks sampled were so good and our bartender was so sweet and made the whole experience so fun!

Couldn’t decide which bottle to bring home so I ended up picking up a few including a unique spicy vodka that makes a killer bloody Mary.

Amazing spot with warm personal service

Amazing spot found here.. normally I am hunting for bourbon but this distillery became my attention. Visited with my two suns and we were all very warm welcomed. Tasted a few and decided very fast for an 135 proof and espresso flavor.  Also got both bottles signed by the owner. This is special for me.  Cheers you guys
