We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Product Diversity: A great shop needs items for different ages and interests. We looked for stores offering a strong mix of classic playthings, modern trends, and rare collectibles.

Store Atmosphere: Clean aisles and clear layouts make shopping much easier for families. We evaluated how welcoming, safe, and organized each shop felt during visits.

Value and Pricing: Fair prices help parents stretch their holiday and birthday budgets. We checked if prices matched local norms and offered true value for buyers.

Staff Knowledge: Friendly service makes a huge difference when searching for specific gifts. We evaluated how helpful the staff was when answering questions about age recommendations.

My nephew’s been on a magician kick for his birthday parties, so naturally I’m now hunting for a toy with a little extra wow factor. A plain plastic trinket from a big-box shelf just isn’t going to cut it.

Finding the best toy store in Jacksonville means looking for places with better-made toys, clever finds, and gifts that feel a bit more special.

I checked out shops around the First Coast with that exact mission in mind. Here are the Jacksonville toy stores that made gift shopping feel more fun than frantic.

How much do items in a toy store in Jacksonville cost?

Toy prices in Jacksonville can fit just about any budget. Small novelties and impulse toys usually cost around $3 to $5.

Standard board games and playsets typically range from $15 to $30. These are common picks for birthdays and everyday gifts.

Specialty toys and high-end collectibles generally start at $30. Premium or harder-to-find pieces can easily cost $100 or more.

Address: 11111 San Jose Blvd, Suite 37

Contact: (904) 680-1308; [email protected]

Hours: Monday–Saturday: 10 AM – 7 PM; Sunday: 11 AM – 6 PM

Mythical Mountain Comics and Toys feels like the kind of place where a quick browse can turn into a full-blown treasure hunt.

The San Jose Boulevard shop packs in vintage toys, action figures, comics, statues, and plenty of fandom-heavy finds.

I like that the inventory keeps changing, with new items added regularly across anime, sci-fi, fantasy, and superhero favorites.

It’s especially handy when you’re shopping for an older kid, collector, or anyone who’d rather unwrap something quirky than predictable.

The store’s back-issue comic selection is a big draw, and the staff get good marks for knowing their stuff. That makes tracking down a specific character or franchise feel much less like guesswork.

One catch is that they don’t carry new weekly single-issue comics or offer pull lists.

Shoppers after traditional preschool toys may find the collectible-heavy selection a little less suitable too.

Pros

  • Wide selection of vintage toys and collectibles
  •
  • Plenty of anime, sci-fi, fantasy, and superhero finds
  •
  • Knowledgeable staff

Cons

  •
  • Less suited to shoppers looking for traditional preschool toys

What a great place. I plan on coming back soon. 👍🏽👍🏽 thanks guys

What an awesome place. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. If your in the market for some collectibles, toys and other table top games, like D&D. Check this place out. They have a little bit of everything. I went looking for some miniature figures for my tabletop board game and left very happy with my purchase. I was even able to open the box and trade one of my figures for something else behind the counter.

What a great place. I plan on coming back soon. 👍🏽👍🏽 thanks guys

Collectibles, toys, and a very healthy selection of back issues too

I have been a loyal customer and unabashed fan of this place for a couple of years now, since close to when they first opened. Not only is the store amazing, but the owners are some of the most genuinely friendly people as well. Jamey and Kathy really love their shop, and the effort pays off in spades.

Selection is wonderful for most anything you can think of. New comics are all there, great variant covers too if you are into that. Collectibles, toys, and a very healthy selection of back issues too.

2. Fundom – Jacksonville (Avenues Mall)

Website

Address: 10300 Southside Blvd

Contact: [email protected]

Hours: Monday–Thursday: 10 AM – 8 PM; Friday–Saturday: 10 AM – 9 PM; Sunday: noon – 6 PM

Fundom at The Avenues feels less like a traditional toy shop and more like a fandom playground. Shelves lean heavily into anime, Funko Pops, plush, apparel, figures, and detailed collectibles.

I like that it’s easy to browse while you’re already at the mall, especially if your gift list includes a serious pop-culture fan.

There’s plenty here for collectors who’d rather unwrap a favorite character than another generic toy.

The bright displays make the shop fun to wander, and the range covers plenty of recognizable franchises. It’s a handy stop for birthdays when you want something with a bit more personality.

The downside is that the selection is much more fandom-focused than all-purpose. Shoppers after classic preschool toys or broader outdoor play options may have better luck elsewhere.

Pros

  • Wide range of anime and pop-culture collectibles
  • Good selection of Funko Pops, plush, figures, and apparel
  •
  •
  • Fun option for collectors and older kids

Cons

  •
  • Limited appeal for shoppers seeking preschool or outdoor toys

It’s a great place for families looking for quality toys

Visiting the toy section at the store was a delightful experience. The space offers a wide variety of toys for different ages, from educational games to fun and creative play options. The products are well organized, making it easy to explore and find something special. It’s a great place for families looking for quality toys that inspire imagination and learning.

This store has a great selection of collectibles

This store has a great selection of collectibles, from Funko Pops to action figures and more! Plus, they have drinks. It’s a nice place to explore. Just a heads-up, the prices are a bit higher than at other stores. You might find some figures at a better price at Barnes & Noble or Ross.

3. Heyday!

Website

Address: 2016 San Marco Blvd

Contact: (904) 321-8697

Hours: Monday–Friday: 10 AM – 6 PM; Saturday: 9:30 AM – 6 PM; Sunday: 11 AM – 4 PM

Heyday! feels like the kind of San Marco shop that makes gift hunting pleasantly dangerous for your wallet.

It mixes kids’ clothing, baby gifts, plush toys, games, and creative playthings without feeling like a big-box toy aisle.

I like that the selection is organized with different ages in mind, from babies to older kids. You’ll find rattles, wooden toys, Magna-Tiles, and other picks that feel a little more thoughtful than grab-and-go plastic.

It’s especially handy for younger kids when you want a birthday gift that looks cute but still encourages actual play. The boutique setup makes browsing feel more relaxed too.

The main drawback is that serious collectors won’t find the same depth of action figures or model kits here. Its website only shows part of the in-store selection, so visiting San Marco may give you more choices.

Pros

  • Curated toys for babies and older kids
  • Good mix of wooden toys, plush, games, and building sets
  •
  • Relaxed boutique shopping experience
  • Convenient San Marco location

Cons

  • Limited selection for serious action-figure or model-kit collectors
  • Website shows only part of the in-store inventory

The staff are lovely and very helpful

Beautiful boutique toy store for those looking for high quality toys that are educational as well as fun for that special child, and a gorgeous unique line of fashionable clothes for your baby, toddler, child, grandchild, or gift for a special occasion. The staff is lovely and very helpful.

Delightful toy store smack in the middle of San Marco area

4. Toytopia

Website

Address: 1205 Beach Blvd

Contact: (904) 372-0341

Hours: Daily: 8 AM – 8 PM

Toytopia feels like the sort of Jacksonville Beach stop where kids can actually poke around and get curious.

The shelves mix imaginative toys, plush, games, building sets, and learning-friendly finds without making everything feel like homework.

I like that the selection leans toward hands-on play, which is handy when you’re trying to steer a birthday gift away from another screen. There’s enough variety here to suit younger kids, budding builders, and little collectors.

The store’s beachside location makes it easy to work into a family day out. With several Florida locations, it feels more established than your average neighborhood toy shop too.

The main catch is that Toytopia is cashless, so you’ll need a card or digital payment. Shoppers after a huge licensed-character selection may want to compare options elsewhere.

Pros

  • Good mix of imaginative and educational toys
  •
  • Strong focus on hands-on play
  •
  • Multiple Florida locations

Cons

  • Cashless payment only
  • Licensed-character selection may be less extensive than some larger toy stores

What a great little local toy store

What a great little local toy store. We went in with our grandkids and wow they have a little of everything in there. Just what we needed at the beach. The prices are comparable to other places and I think you could find something for anyone on your list. Now I can’t wait to take my granddaughters for their treat day!

Great little toy store with a fun mix of unique toys and classics

Great little toy store with a fun mix of unique toys and classics. The store is clean, well organized, and easy to shop. Staff is friendly and helpful without being pushy. Prefect spot to find a gift or toy for all kids.

5. Emmitt’s Toy Emporium

Website

Address: 4717 San Juan Ave

Contact: (904) 660-2115

Hours: Daily: 11 AM – 6 PM

Emmitt’s Toy Emporium is the kind of place that can make grown-ups forget they came in shopping for the kids. The shelves mix vintage action figures, retro playsets, games, and newer collectibles from familiar franchises.

I like that the shop feels bright and organized rather than crammed with dusty nostalgia.

Emmitt’s knowledge of older toys can be especially helpful when you’re trying to identify a childhood favorite or discuss a possible trade.

There’s enough modern merchandise here to keep younger collectors interested too. Still, the real fun is spotting something you haven’t seen since Saturday morning cartoons ruled your schedule.

The catch is that vintage and pre-owned stock naturally changes, so specific finds aren’t guaranteed. Serious bargain hunters may need to visit more than once to land exactly what they’re after.

Pros

  • Strong selection of vintage and retro collectibles
  • Carries newer figures and modern fandom merchandise too
  • Bright, clean, and organized shop
  • Knowledgeable owner
  • Good spot for nostalgic and hard-to-find toys

Cons

  • Vintage and pre-owned stock can change often
  • Specific collectible finds aren’t always guaranteed

So if you are ever out that way, I suggest to stop by

I love finding new toy spots when I am down here in Florida. Wow! This place had it all and I picked up a nice transformer piece I’ve been looking for. Not only was the shop great the owner was great too. We chatted for a bit about everything but the most important part of the chat was the feeling of walking in a toy store like that and the joy and happiness it brought me. The place is great lots of inventory new and used. So if you are ever out that way I suggest to stop by.

Best toy selection for collectors and seekers alike in Jacksonville!

Talk about nostalgia! This toy store had something for everyone in our family and Emmitt is truly a kind hearted guy just looking to bring smiles to everyone who walks through that door. Only issue is parking, but it’s worth circling the block for. Best toy selection for collectors and seekers alike in Jacksonville!
