Magic Hideaway offers a completely different experience from your typical magic show. Located inside Casa Monica Resort and Spa, the venue features a velvet-draped showroom with just 22 seats, so every performance feels personal and up close.
When my partner and I visited, we were surprised by how intimate the setting was. You really feel like you’re part of the show rather than just watching from the audience.
The evening is led by Bill Abbott, a Canadian Magician of the Year recipient known for his impressive sleight of hand.
Before the show, guests can enjoy a complimentary cocktail in the lounge using a special gold coin, which adds a fun touch to the experience. There’s even an exclusive meet-and-greet after the performance wraps up.
The only downside is that tickets tend to sell out quickly because of the limited seating.

If you’re already spending the day exploring the historic district, The Cabaret Room Presented by Theatre Magic is a fun little stop that’s easy on the wallet.
Since the performances take place in a small, intimate setting inside Casa Del Hidalgo, you’re close enough to see the magic unfold right in front of you. This makes the experience even more impressive.
What I thought was especially cool is that you can actually buy some of the tricks used in the show and learn how to perform them yourself.
On top of that, guests get access to the Conjurer Club, an online magic community with tutorials and lessons you can keep using after your visit.
Just keep in mind that the shows are only about 30 minutes long, so it’s best enjoyed as part of a larger day out.

Best $5 live entertainment you can get. We have now attended twice with two different performers. My four year old absolutely loved it and even was able to “help” perform magic during the last show. He’s convinced he’s a magician now and immediately tried to show me card tricks when we got home after and tried to make things fly. Both magicians were talented and put on a great show.
